It was, one of the best phase of my life. And that even though I was realizing when I was there, but learnt it completely when I have to rush back to India, because my dad got sick.
So now when I look back, what I see is the tones of moments which I lived there, friends I made, places I visited, and off course money I made. Even though my first impression when going for such a visit was definitely making money, but what got me thrilled during the tenure was something (or I say a lot of things) else.
There is always been the lazy bone in me, which use to knuckle me down each time around there is something happening I can involve my self in. But when I went there, I just made one promise to myself, know matter how much difficult it may be for me, but I will go for it, each and every trip, to any of the least interesting place, I have to go, and so I did and believe me within no time I started to enjoy. Being it the first trip i.e. to the Santa Cruz beach, followed by Mount Madona, then to lake Tanho, Monterary, 17 Miles Drive, SFO, and the list goes on.
In the nut shell I tried to invest each weekend I had in doing something interesting, something new.
Then there was another learning curve there, made some very good friends in the land which was far far away. And I bet you that was fun, those whole late night chats, that walk through the various near by places, those visits to the shopping store and buying nothing, shouting on the road, every moment was fun.
And there was learning as well, one of the best thing which I understood about US, was the value tag there is for the life. People there definitely work to live, and they live to enjoy, where as here most of us live to work, and in between forget to enjoy…live life.
Yes I do want to go back, and would like to have atleast one more blast there, and then I do desire to visit more places around the globe so that I can compare. I would like to go back for one more reason, that is I didn’t got the chance to learn more of there culture this time around, so next time I would love to do that, visit some museums, meet more local people – the common man of US, or what ever place I can travel now.
Ending note, another thing which I learnt there is that people there follow the rules, no matter how crooked it is, like they do not need a cop at the traffic light to make people stop when it is Red, they will stop, it does not matter whether there is traffic, whether it is 12 at the night, they will not jump the lanes, so in all by following rules they do it smartly. And also we friends there use to believe how much thinking has been given by there ancestors to layout the plans for better living so back in time, where as we are still just struggling to come to terms.
May we start taking the good part from the rest of the world, the respect for life.
