Extracts from a trip to remember

It was, one of the best phase of my life. And that even though I was realizing when I was there, but learnt it completely when I have to rush back to India, because my dad got sick.

So now when I look back, what I see is the tones of moments which I lived there, friends I made, places I visited, and off course money I made. Even though my first impression when going for such a visit was definitely making money, but what got me thrilled during the tenure was something (or I say a lot of things) else.

There is always been the lazy bone in me, which use to knuckle me down each time around there is something happening I can involve my self in. But when I went there, I just made one promise to myself, know matter how much difficult it may be for me, but I will go for it, each and every trip, to any of the least interesting place, I have to go, and so I did and believe me within no time I started to enjoy. Being it the first trip i.e. to the Santa Cruz beach, followed by Mount Madona, then to lake Tanho, Monterary, 17 Miles Drive, SFO, and the list goes on.

In the nut shell I tried to invest each weekend I had in doing something interesting, something new.

Then there was another learning curve there, made some very good friends in the land which was far far away. And I bet you that was fun, those whole late night chats, that walk through the various near by places, those visits to the shopping store and buying nothing, shouting on the road, every moment was fun.

And there was learning as well, one of the best thing which I understood about US, was the value tag there is for the life. People there definitely work to live, and they live to enjoy, where as here most of us live to work, and in between forget to enjoy…live life.

Yes I do want to go back, and would like to have atleast one more blast there, and then I do desire to visit more places around the globe so that I can compare. I would like to go back for one more reason, that is I didn’t got the chance to learn more of there culture this time around, so next time I would love to do that, visit some museums, meet more local people – the common man of US, or what ever place I can travel now.

Ending note, another thing which I learnt there is that people there follow the rules, no matter how crooked it is, like they do not need a cop at the traffic light to make people stop when it is Red, they will stop, it does not matter whether there is traffic, whether it is 12 at the night, they will not jump the lanes, so in all by following rules they do it smartly. And also we friends there use to believe how much thinking has been given by there ancestors to layout the plans for better living so back in time, where as we are still just struggling to come to terms.

May we start taking the good part from the rest of the world, the respect for life.

Nice beginning, traveling peoples have lot of stories to share, hope you understand what I need from you :)

But, when you compare two things, the thing you know less always seems to be better in comparison with the thing you know more. You as an Indian, have seen more of India (developing) and less of US (developed).

One of my 78-year old consultant, who had traveled a lot was once telling me that the houses there which are in straight lane are not better for some reason (forgot that good reason).

Traffic when compared, only Mumbai scores better in India (many peoples I met, not from Mumbai, supports my point).

Anyways its good you want to compare, know their culture, in the end we will be benefitted with more such blog insights (as I have never traveled abroad, even not much in India, though wanting to).

Enjoy !

I like what you said, “People there definitely work to live, and they live to enjoy, where as here most of us live to work, and in between forget to enjoy…live life”. And this is absolutely true. People abroad not just know how to enjoy life; they know how to enjoy nature. They are closer to nature than we Indians are. Though I become absolutely patriotic every time I travel abroad. And some how I start finding excuses of how life in India is better because of family, friend, language, culture etc.
I think that to keep a balance in life one should spend part of the year abroad, and also make some money too.
Keep traveling and keep posting your experiences.
